Nashville stifled Carolina’s momentum and ended Pyotr Kochetkov’s record-breaking run.

The Carolina Hurricanes saw their four-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday, falling 4-1 to the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena.

It was also the first loss of the season for goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov, who had a 10-game winning streak, a franchise record, entering the game.

After the loss, Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour along with Jaccob Slavin spoke with the media in Nashville.

Rod Brind'Amour

On the game: It's not a work thing, it's just a smarts thing. We just didn't do the things we needed to to give ourselves a better chance. Too many turnovers, taking pucks back. We were down one and we were in the game and then we just started doing things and trying to be a little too cute. That's not a recipe for success.

On Nashville: They worked hard. They stuck to their plan. Their goalie played really well. I mean, he made a lot of big saves to keep the game going so they didn't have to open it up or anything. I thought we were trying to do too much though and that's really what happened.

On the game: We just didn't play our best game. We didn't play the way that makes us successful. We weren't managing the puck well, we were taking pucks back and trying to get too cute through the neutral zone and breaking out of our zone. We're a pretty north-south team and when we start trying to go east-to-west when it's not there, it's just stress on us. Just wasn't out best effort tonight.

On Nashville: They're a team that works extremely hard. They have high puck pressure and their penalty kill is go, go, go and that's how they play at 5v5 too. Just try to puck pressure all around the ice and when you puck pressure and we try to not make the hard plays, that's what happens. They get pucks back and then they just throw pucks at the net and good things happened.

On turning the page: We have a new day tomorrow, a fresh start. It's a long season, but we don't want to have games build on top of each other like that. So just getting back to how we play the game, what makes us successful, what has made us successful and what works. Just have to stick with that.
