The 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto is set to take place Thursday, Feb 1 through Saturday, Feb. 3.

The event will be revamped this year with a player draft taking place Thursday to decide the teams rather than dividing them into divisions, Friday will be the skills competition and then Saturday will be the actual All-Star Game.

The initial batch of 32 nominees, one from each NHL team, will be announced tonight on ESPN, Sportsnet and TVA Sports.

The 16 Eastern Conference players will be revealed at 6:50 p.m. EST on the broadcasts and the 16 Western Conference players will be revealed during the first intermission of the Penguins-Bruins game.

Following that, the rules for the fan vote for the remaining 12 spots will be revealed as well.

So who will be the Carolina Hurricanes representative this year? Let's weigh the options.

Betting Favorite

  • Sebastian Aho

More than likely, Sebastian Aho will be the Hurricanes' 2024 All-Star selection.

Aho currently leads the Canes in goals (15) and points (43) by a fairly wide margin and the only Metro players with more points right now than Aho are Jack Hughes (45) and Artemi Panarin (51)

If selected it would be the Finnish center's third appearance at an All-Star Weekend, having gone in 2019 and 2022.

In both years, Aho's team won the All-Star Game and in 2022, Aho won the accuracy shooting competition with a time of 10.937 seconds.

Strong Candidates

  • Andrei Svechnikov

While his overall stats might not appear to jump off the page at first (8 goals, 23 points), the reality is that Andrei Svechnikov is producing at a point-per-game pace.

And he's kept up that pace all while returning from both a torn ACL (to start the season) as well as a bruised rib (in mid-December).

Along with Aho, he's been red-hot for the Canes and if he had played all year, his stats would be much higher too.

He was Carolina's All-Star last season and even won the Fastest Skater competition.

  • Seth Jarvis

Combining a breakout season along with a marketable personality and you have the recipe for a true success story at the NHL All-Star Game with Seth Jarvis.

He's a charismatic goofball and the perfect person to bring a little lively energy and entertainment to an even that has gotten a bit stale.

And he now has some stats to back up his resume.

He's second on the team in goals (13) and points (27) and is tied for sixth in the league in power play goals (8).

Dark Horses

  • Brady Skjei

Perhaps one of the most underrated defensemen in the league despite the fact that he was third in the league in goals by a defensemen last season, Brady Skjei has continued to produce at a steady clip.

He has six goals and 24 points this season and is fourth in points by a Metro blueliner.

Add in the fact that he's a tremendously talented skater and warm personality and I think he'd do very well for himself at the All-Star Game.

  • Pyotr Kochetkov

Who wouldn't love a little chaos at the All-Star Game, and that's exactly what Pyotr Kochetkov would bring.

One of the most fun goaltenders in the NHL right now, Kochetkov's hot streak through December, a 7-3-2 record with a 0.920 save percentage, gives a better glimpse at the player than his overall 0.904 save percentage.

And just think of the crazy poke check and goofy celly potential.
