The Carolina Hurricanes have placed forward prospect Alexander Pashin on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination according to team reporter Walt Ruff.

Pashin, 21, is coming off of his first full year in the KHL where he had 10 goals and 19 points in 60 games with Spartak Moskva.

The 2020 seventh-round pick had made the move to North America in the prior season and played with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL, but had to be loaned back to Russia and the KHL this season due to the Wolves going independent.

Pashin had one more year remaining on his ELC that was paying him $80,000 at the AHL level plus a $60,000 signing bonus.

Odds are he's been offered a better offer in Russia that will pay him more as the rumor is he is signing a three-year deal to stay with Spartak.
