The Carolina Hurricanes selected Bradly Nadeau 30th overall Wednesday night at the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
The 18-year old winger had 45 goals and 113 points in 54 games playing for Penticton in the BCHL.
After his selection, Nadeau spoke to the media in Nashville.
Here's what he had to say:
On the moment: It was an unbelievable moment when they called my name there. Just getting the view of my family when they did that. The reason I’m here is because of them and all the money and work they put in. It was just an amazing moment.
On if he expected the Hurricanes to draft him: I didn’t know what to expect. I think with all the teams, it was similar meetings. When they called my name I was a bit surprised, but I was really excited.
On what he knows about Carolina: Unfortunately, I don’t know much, but my plan here is to kind of do my research and learn more about the organization in the next few days.
On what he hopes to bring to the team: Hopefully, I’ll be able to bring [goal scoring] there and make an impact for the team and help them win. They have a really good team and hopefully in the future I’ll be able to make an impact with them and help them win.
On how he would describe his game: I’m a hard-working, offensive forward and a creative player. I take a lot of pride in my shot. I think it’s one of my good attributes.
On who he models his game after: Mitch Marner is one. I think that’s one guy I’ve been watching a lot in the NHL and kind of trying to model my game around him. Seth Jarvis is a player I’ve been watching a lot too. I'm trying to get my skating to his level. I know that’s something that really helps him in the NHL.
On why he chose to play in the BCHL: There were a lot of teams there kind of watching us play. I know if I would have played in the Maritime [Junior League], it would have been a bit less. I wanted the exposure for my two years of juniors, so that’s why I ended up going to the BCHL.
On playing with his brother: It was amazing. Two years with him there in Penticton and having him here while I’m going through this process was amazing and hopefully he’ll be able to get drafted here too.
