The Carolina Hurricanes have announced that forward Brendan Lemieux has cleared waivers and has subsequently been reassigned to the Chicago Wolves
Lemieux, 28, played in just 32 games for the Canes last season and had three goals, five points and 71 hits primarily as the 13th forward.
Despite that lack of playing time, the physical winger signed a one-year, $775,000 contract extension with the Hurricanes last season, but it seems like he's found himself as the odd-man out.
The Hurricanes are currently pushed right up close to the salary cap limit and so they're trying to shed as much as space as they can to accrue more for the trade deadline.
Lemieux hasn't played in the AHL since the 2017-18 season.
