The big-bodied defenseman finally earned a deal after a productive training camp.

The Carolina Hurricanes have signed defenseman Bryce Montgomery to a three-year, entry-level contract.

The deal will pay Montgomery $854,910 at the NHL level and $55,000 at the AHL level.

“Bryce is a big defenseman who skates well,” said Carolina general manager Eric Tulsky. “We look forward to seeing him continue to develop in our system.”

The 2021 sixth-round pick spent the last season with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL where he had four goals and 12 points in 42 games.

The 6’4”, 215-pound defenseman spent parts of three seasons in the OHL and also played a year in the USHL.
