Chris Abbott, the twin brother of Chicago Wolves coach Cam Abbott, will join the Canes as Vice President of Pro Player Personnel

The Carolina Hurricanes have announced today that they have come to an agreement with Chris Abbott to serve as the team's Vice President of Pro Player Personnel.

Abbott, 40, is the twin brother of Chicago Wolves coach Cam Abbott and is currently the general manager for HV71 in the SHL, a position which he's held for the past eight years.

Per the press release, Abbott will continue to serve in his current role in Sweden before transitioning to the Hurricanes full-time.

What that timeline specifically will look like is not yet clear.

“Chris has a proven record in player evaluation and management,” said Carolina general manager Eric Tulsky. “He carries a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be a great addition to our pro scouting group and our management team. We’re thrilled to have him joining our organization.”

Some of the players that came through Rogle BK's system during Abbott's time include Rasmus Sandin, Nils Hoglander, Mo Seider and Marco Kasper just to name a few.

Abbott played four seasons at Cornell University before taking his talents overseas starting in 2007.

The Ontario native spent nine seasons playing in the SHL before transitioning into management, being named general manager of Rögle BK during the 2017-18 season.

In 2021-22, Abbott captured a regular season title and Rögle BK's first ever CHL title.
