The Carolina Hurricanes selected winger Jayden Perron from the Chicago Steel of the USHL with the 94th overall pick.

The small forward had 24 goals and 72 points in 61 games last season, which placed him 6th overall in the entire USHL.

This pick could very well be a steal as Perron generated first-round buzz due to his offensive capabilities and high ceiling, but seemed to slip due to his size (5-foot-9).

Perron is committed to the University of North Dakota so he will have plenty of opportunities for ice time to develop and perhaps he can work to bulk up as well.

Here's what scouts told The Hockey News about Perron:
"He's a good player. A lot of people may question his size, but I don't. He played a lot with Mack Celebrini, but he contributes a lot on that line. He's from the Matt Coronato bloodline a bit, not as hard, but he has the ability to create offensively and make plays." - Scout 1

"He's a crafty player. More quick than fast. He has really deceptive skating. It doesn't look like he's going very fast, but then he beats guys, cuts back and uses his edge work. Good vision. He has really asserted himself as a go-to guy on that team, which is tough." - Scout 2
