Well it seems that the Carolina Hurricanes will be removing the interim tag off of general manager Eric Tulsky very soon.

According to the Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, the Hurricanes have notified candidates that the team plans to fill the vacant role internally.

Tulsky, who's been serving as the interim general manager since Don Waddell's resignation, is expected to become the official general manager of the Canes.

It makes sense to fill the position internally for multiple reasons.

One, Tulsky is a guy who already understands the collaborative nature of the Hurricanes' front office.

The expectation for an incoming general manager was that they weren't going to be the one solely calling the shots, which is a lot different than most organizations.

The Canes have a very collaborative front office, which Tulsky has already been involved in.

Second, he's a guy that understands the culture and expectations for the club being that he's been with the organization for about a decade.

And third, he's just a really smart guy who's been heavily involved in all aspects of the team from contract negotiations to pro scouting.

Tulsky is a hockey guy, not just a computer/analytics person.

While no official statement has been made yet, Seravalli is a pretty concrete source, so I'd assume that we'll get the news fairly soon.
