The Carolina Hurricanes have once again traded down in an NHL draft in order to stockpile more picks.
This time, the Canes traded their 2025 first-round pick (29th overall) to the Chicago Blackhawks for two 2025 second-round picks (34, 62) and a fifth-round pick in 2027.
This is the second year in a row that the Hurricanes have traded their first-round pick to the Blackhawks for additional draft capital and the third time in the last five drafts in which they've traded the first round pick away.
The Canes now have seven picks in the second day of the draft.
Second Round - 34th; 62nd
Third Round - 87th
Fourth Round - 125th
Sixth Round - 183rd; 189th
Seventh Round - 221st
