Hurricanes Run Away with Win in Preseason Opener
From the game one group, seven players will be playing again tonight: Zach Aston-Reese, Jamieson Rees, Ryan Suzuki, Felix Unger Sorum, Brendan Perlini, Justin Robidas and Kieffer Bellows.
“They came here to play," said Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour, "and that’s really the only way to assess them. We can practice and do all that, but you’ve gotta see them in game situations. Really want to give all those guys as much opportunity as possible.”
Outside of them, Carolina will be icing a a mostly veteran roster along with six new defensemen and two new goalies.
“They gotta get all the dust off," Brind'Amour said about his regulars. "There’s really no other way to do that then to just play games. There’s a fine line to that obviously, but you do need to get these guys rolling and as we move forward here, that’s what will happen.”
Brind'Amour also stated that the plan was to get both Raanta and Perets some playing time tonight.
From the Florida side, former Canes Steven Lorentz, Zac Dalpe and Casey Fitzgerald will also be playing.
But the most notable opponent will be Rod Brind'Amour's son, Skyler Brind'Amour who will be suiting up for his first NHL preseason game.
