Carolina risks losing the netminder for a second consecutive year as Eric Tulsky attempts to sneak the AHL standout through to the Chicago Wolves.

The Carolina Hurricanes have placed goaltender Cayden Primeau on waivers.

The 27-year-old netminder was on the team's initial 23 man roster to open the year, but it seemed to be simply a move to try and avoid the waiver frenzy that the start of the year presents.

Now that the year has started for nearly everyone, the Hurricanes are hoping to pass him through to the AHL and not lose him like they did last year.

"The mechanics of an opening night roster is always a little complicated and Cayden had a great camp and we have a lot of trust in him," said Carolina GM Eric Tulsky. "We see him as an important part of our organizational depth at that position."
