Every so often, you'll run into two athletes who share a name, but Cam Ward and Cam Ward go even a little further, having both played for teams with the same name as well.

One's a former NHL goaltender, drafted in the first round of the 2002 draft by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Ward, 41, played 14 seasons in the league (13 with the Hurricanes and one with the Chicago Blackhawks), helping lead the Canes to a Stanley Cup in 2006 as a rookie and capturing the Conn Smythe trophy that year as playoff MVP as well.

He joined the Hurricanes Hall of Fame in 2023 and is a franchise icon.

The other is former Miami Hurricanes football player, who was just drafted first overall in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans.

While there were many jokes being cracked on social media, the elder Ward posted his own hilarious video on his Instagram story.

In the video, Ward can be seen watching the NFL Draft and when Cameron Ward is announced as the first overall pick, Ward gets a confused expression and states, "Did I just get picked?"
