The 35-year-old netminder will start the season for Carolina for a fourth straight year.
The Carolina Hurricanes will be turning to the 'Great Dane' Frederik Andersen as their 2024-25 Game 1 starter.
Andersen, 35, is heading into his 12th season in the NHL and his fourth with the Hurricanes.
The Danish netminder has started every season so far for the Hurricanes and so it seems that trend will continue tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Last season, Andersen had a 13-2-0 record with a 0.932 save percentage despite missing four months of the season due to blood-clotting issues.
The veteran faltered a bit in the postseason with a 0.895 save percentage in 10 starts, but there's really no reason to think Andersen won't be able to put together another strong regular season being that he's been one of the better goaltenders in the league over the last decade.
While many fans have clamored about wanting the young Russian Pyotr Kochetkov in net, the two will more than likely be sharing a 50/50 work load this season barring injuries.
