The Canes have placed all three players on waivers for the purpose of reassignment to the AHL.

The Carolina Hurricanes have placed three players on waivers today for the purpose of reassignment to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL: forwards Ryan Suzuki and Josiah Slavin and defenseman Ty Smith.

Suzuki, 23, signed a one-year, two-way extension with the Hurricanes this offseason.

The 2019 first-round pick has dealt with a myriad of injury issues throughout his career, but in 161 AHL games, has 39 goals and 86 points.

Suzuki has really matured in his overall game and I can see him being perhaps the top callup for the Canes this season.

Slavin, 25, signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Hurricanes this offseason.

The brother of Canes defenseman Jaccob Slavin, Josiah was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2018 and has 201 games of AHL experience.

Slavin had a strong pre-season with two goals and showed out with a good two-way game and penalty killing ability.

Smith, 24, was acquired by the Canes as part of the Jake Guentzel trade and was then re-signed to a one-year, two-way deal this offseason.

The 17th overall pick from the 2018 draft broke into the league with the New Jersey Devils bit has found himself primarily playing in the AHL over the last two season.

The Canes already passed Spencer Martin through waivers earlier in the week and they'll be hoping to do the same with these three.
