The 10th overall pick in the 2016 draft hasn't managed to carve out a spot in Carolina.

The Carolina Hurricanes have placed forward Tyson Jost on waivers.

The 26-year-old forward signed a one-year deal with the Hurricanes this offseason and was hoping to find a steady spot in the NHL after a couple of rocky seasons.

However, Jost wasn't able to standout much in the pre-season and the emergence of Jackson Blake for Carolina made the forward group just too crowded for Jost to breakthrough.

The writing was on the wall a bit for Jost too as he was skating as a defensive extra at Wednesday's practice.

If he clears, Jost can be assigned to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.
