The Bloomington Bison are the new ECHL team on the block, having joined the league for their inaugural season this year.
While they are officially affiliated with the New York Rangers, the Carolina Hurricanes also have a working agreement with the Bison and as such, can reassign players there.
The Canes assigned two players to Bloomington following the Chicago Wolves training camp which followed their own: goaltender Ruslan Khazheyev and defenseman Bryce Montgomery, who made history for the Bison over the weekend.
Montgomery, who signed a three-year ELC with the Hurricanes earlier this month, scored the first goal in Bloomington Bison history on Sunday.
The 6-foot-5 blueliner had joined a rush up ice and after receiving a pass at the top of the right circle, Montgomery let it fly, beating the Toledo Walleye goaltender.
