The Carolina Hurricanes have re-signed forward Jordan Martinook to a three-year, $3.05 million AAV contract.
"Jordan is the heart and soul of our team, and he has played a pivotal role in changing the culture here over his six years as a Hurricane,” said Carolina general manager Eric Tulsky. “He is such a reliable presence for us both on and off the ice, and we are thrilled to keep him in Raleigh for years to come.”
Martinook, 31, has been an integral part of the Hurricanes' leadership team and a vital member of the locker room.
He brings consistent and dependable energy and fits exactly into the Hurricanes' mold.
While many fans have griped about his offense, Martinook has been a double-digit goal scorer and 30+ point player in each of the past two seasons on top of being a clutch playoff performer.
Sure he misses the net more than some would like, but he provides very good depth scoring for his price.
On top of that, Martinook also provides strong forechecking, solid defense and can kill penalties too.
He's a versatile player that can plug and play anywhere in the lineup and Carolina is happy to be able to keep him around.
