The first signing of the Eric Tulsky interim era is here as the Carolina Hurricanes have announced that they have signed forward prospect Ryan Suzuki to a one-year contract extension.

This is the first contract for the 2019 first-round pick since signing his ELC in 2019.

Suzuki will be paid $775,000 at the NHL level and $70,000 at the AHL level with a $90,000 guarantee.

“Ryan is a highly skilled forward who has made great strides early in his professional career,” said Hurricanes Assistant General Manager Darren Yorke. “We have been continually impressed by his work ethic and persistence, and we are happy to keep him in our organization.”

The 23-year-old center is coming off of a 14 goal, 30 point campaign in 51 games with the Springfield Thunderbirds this season.

In 131 career AHL games, Suzuki has had 39 goals and 86 points and won the Calder Cup with the Chicago Wolves in 2021-22.

Suzuki has enjoyed a good stretch of healthy hockey now and has seen both sides of his game continue to grow,

And now that Carolina is reassociated with the Wolves, Suzuki should be back in Chicago this season should he not make the NHL club where his development can continue to be more focused in.
