The Canes have moved two player to the ECHL this weekend.

The Canes lost 4-1 to the Bolts Friday night in their season opener.

The Carolina Hurricanes have reassigned two of their prospects from the AHL to the ECHL this weekend.

The Hurricanes have reassigned defenseman Bryce Montgomery and goaltender Ruslan Khazheyev from the Chicago Wolves to the Bloomington Bison.

Montgomery, 21, is a big-bodied defenseman who the Canes recently signed to an ELC earlier this month.

The 2021 sixth-round pick played in the ECHL last season with the South Carolina Stingrays.

Khazheyev, 19, is in North America for the first time in his career after playing in Russia up to last season.

The 6-foot-4 netminder had a really good season in the MHL with a 0.927 save percentage in 28 games, but he still needs a lot more time to develop and get adjusted to the North American game.

Both players attended training camp with the Hurricanes before being reassigned to the Wolves last week.

The Bison are the ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers but the Canes have a working agreement with Bloomington this season.
