Veteran defenseman Juuso Valimaki joins Carolina’s roster ahead of the Montreal road trip, providing NHL-ready depth and a left-handed boost following recent defensive shuffling in the lineup.
The Carolina Hurricanes have recalled defenseman Juuso Valimaki from the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.
The 27 year old was one of the final cuts from Canes training camp and has been one of Chicago's top defenders since joining the organization back in January.
Valimaki has 271 games of NHL experience, recording 11 goals and 72 points in that span. Charles Alexis Legault was reassigned by the Hurricanes on Saturday, leaving the team with only six defensemen as Mike Reilly slotted in against the Flyers.
Carolina is in Montreal on Tuesday to take on the Canadiens and so the 6-foot-2 Finnish lefty could potentially make his team debut then, or he might just have been recalled for depth purposes.
