The Carolina Hurricanes have signed 2023 fifth-round pick Charles-Alexis Legault to a three-year entry-level contract.
Legault, 20, will be paid $775,000 in 2024-25, $832,500 in 2025-26 and $855,000 in 2026-27 all at the NHL level and will receive $82,500 for all three years at the AHL level.
The deal also includes a $285,000 signing bonus.
The 6-foot-3 blueliner had nine goals and 24 points in 39 games in his sophomore season at Quinnipiac which was a huge step up for him offensively from his freshman season, and also led the entire NCAA in plus/minus as a +36.
Over his two-year NCAA career, Legault had 11 goals and 33 points in 79 games and was part of the National Championship team in 2023.
“Charles-Alexis is a physical defenseman who uses his size well,” said Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell. “He made great strides in his offensive game this season, and we think he’s ready to continue his development at the professional level.”
With the Canes once again having an AHL affiliate, the team is wasting no time in signing a bunch of their prospects and Legault will join a growing list of talented youngsters in Chicago.
