Twelve players head to the AHL and junior ranks as Carolina whittles the squad to twenty-eight, leaving five final spots to be cut before the season opener.
The Carolina Hurricanes have reduced their training camp roster to 28 players, reassigning 12 players on Friday.
The team returned a pair of CHL players, with forward Filip Ekberg returning to the Ottawa 67's of the OHL and forward Zach Lansard to the Regina Pats of the WHL.
The Chicago Wolves will also be getting a big bulk of players, with Charlie Cerrato, Dominik Badinka, Joel Nystrom and Ruslan Khazheyev being assigned directly to the Canes' AHL affiliate.
In addition, five players were placed on waivers and have subsequently been assigned to the Chicago Wolves.
That includes forwards Skyler Brind'Amour, Justin Robidas, Juha Jaaska and defensemen Aleksi Heimosalmi and Pierre-Olivier Joseph.
Along with them, Viktor Neuchev, Ronan Seeley and Zach Sawchenko also passed through waivers and will join Chicago too.
Forward Josiah Slavin, who signed a PTO to attend Hurricanes camp, was released from his PTO. He is on an AHL contract with the Chicago Wolves.
The Canes have 28 players remaining on the roster, which will have to get down to 23 before the start of the season.
