The Carolina Hurricanes will be turning back to their number one goaltender tonight as they look to stave off elimination at the hands of the Florida Panthers.

Frederik Andersen, who was pulled in Game 2 after giving up four goals on 20 shots and watched from the bench in Game 3 as Pyotr Kochetkov manned the net, will be getting the nod for Game 4.

"He's been great for us all year," said Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour Monday morning, "Had a couple days off so it makes sense to chuck him in there."

Andersen, 35, had been one of the league's best goaltenders this postseason heading into the Eastern Conference Final, with an 8-2 record and 0.937 save percentage.

But he did not look good against the Panthers, with nine goals conceded across 1.66 games.

But at the end of the day, the Hurricanes are going to try and rely on what got them there and that was Frederik Andersen.

"One of the things that's been great about him is that he's had so many trials and tribulations in his career and he's taken months off and then gets back in the net and looks like he hasn't missed a beat," Brind'Amour said. "I don't know how that is, but it's certainly a unique skillset that he brings, but we need it tonight obviously."

And this is also not an indictment on Kochetkov either.

"Overall, he gave us a chance and that's what you ask for from your goalie," Brind'Amour said. "We were in the third period and it was at least a game and it was partially because he was solid."
