    The NHL has announced that Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas was the First Star of the Month for November.

    Necas, 25, had seven goals and 22 points in 15 games in November which led the entire league.

    The Czech forward, who now currently sits second in league scoring (37) behind Minnesota Wild Kirill Kaprizov (38), led the NHL in scoring for about a week after a 13-game, 27 point streak.

    For November, Necas was a top-10 player in assists (4th with 15), even strength assists (6th with 9), power play assists (6th with 6), power play goals (9th with 3), power play points (3rd with 9), and even strength points (10th with 13).

    The speedy winger also registered a point in 12 out of the 15 November games and had a multi-point night on seven occasions.

    Overall, Necas also leads the league in power-play points (17), and is tied for third in game-winning goals (4).

    Necas beat out Colorado Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen 11 goals and 19 points in 14 games and Winnipeg Jets netminder Connor Hellebuyck who posted a 8-2-0 record with a 0.931 save percentage, 2.10 GAA, .931 save percentage and two shutouts.

    In terms of team history, Necas is the fifth Carolina Hurricane to be named the NHL Player of the Month. Other honorees include Anton Khudobin in January, 2014, Cam Ward in March, 2009, Eric Staal in October, 2005 and Arturs Irbe in October, 1998.
