The Carolina Hurricanes have announced that they have reassigned forward Max Comtois and defenseman Dylan Coghlan to the AHL.

Comtois, 25, who had an assist in Carolina's 6-3 loss to Columbus on Tuesday, will return to the Chicago Wolves where he has 19 goals and 43 points in 62 games.

The Wolves have three games left in their season and did not qualify for the playoffs.

Coghlan, 26, will return to the Springfield Thunderbirds where he has 16 goals and 41 points in 59 games this season.

Coghlan is tied for the AHL lead in goals by defensemen.

Springfield has two games left this season and also did not qualify for the playoffs.

It's more than likely that both players will rejoin Carolina as black aces for the Canes' postseason run.
