The Carolina Hurricanes have some new number assignments for two of their newest additions.
Starting off, new defenseman K'Andre Miller will wear number 19 in Carolina.
He wore 79 in all five years with the New York Rangers, but originally wore 19 in college at Wisconsin (19 was retired by the Rangers for Hall of Famer Jean Ratelle).
The last Hurricane to wear 19 was Dougie Hamilton who played for the Canes from 2019-2021.
Other players to wear 19 for Carolina include: Josh Jooris, Jiri Tlusty, Trevor Letowski, Radim Vrbata, Chris Dingman, Rob DiMaio, Jeff O'Neill and Nelson Emerson.
Nikolaj Ehlers will wear number 27, the same one he wore for all 10 years in Winnipeg.
The last Hurricane to wear 27 was Tyson Jost, who was re-signed by the Canes, so he'll also be in need of a new number.
Unfortunately for Jost, the only other numbers he's worn in the NHL are 10 and 17 (both retired by the Canes), so he'll really need to pick something new.
Others to have worn 27 in Carolina include: Justin Faulk, Derek Joslin, Brett Carson, Craig Adam, Rod Brind'Amour and Steve Leach.
