Two of the Canes' top prospects made their presence known in a 3-2 overtime win.

So the kids are looking pretty good, eh?

The Chicago Wolves' thrilling 3-2 overtime victory last night was led by a lot of the talented youth the Carolina Hurricanes have turned pro.

Not only did 2023 first-round pick Bradly Nadeau net his first career AHL goal, but so too did 2021 second-round pick Scott Morrow who scored the overtime game winner last night.

Both Morrow, 21, and Nadeau, 19, signed their ELCs with the Hurricanes in April, getting to make their NHL debuts at the end of last year's regular season, but neither made the team out of this season's training camp.

Instead, they're starting with the Chicago Wolves where they're going to have time to grow and develop like what we just witnessed last night.

It'll take some time for everything to gel, but there's a lot to like with the pieces that the Wolves have.

Additional Notes

  • It wasn't just the first professional goals for Nadeau and Morrow, but also the first professional points for them and 2023 second-round pick Felix Unger Sorum who got the secondary assist on the Morrow goal and 2023 fifth-round pick Charles-Alexis Legault who had the primary assist on the Wolves' second goal.
  • Speaking of the second goal, in his first game being reassigned to the Chicago Wolves, Brendan Lemieux scored. It's his first time in the AHL since the 2017-18 season.
  • 2019 first-round pick Ryan Suzuki has had a good start to the season, scoring in the Wolves' season opener and now last night having the primary assist on both Nadeau and Morrow's goals.
  • Spencer Martin who got the win in net, also picked up an assist for himself on the Nadeau goal.
  • It was also the first AHL victory for coach Cam Abbott.
