A big-time event will be taking place in Russia this summer as current NHL stars will be facing off against some of their KHL counterparts for the first time since 2010, although this match isn't sponsored by either league.
Instead, the event has been organized by two current Russian NHL players.
The game is a credit to both Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Mikhail Sergachev and New York Rangers forward Artemi Panarin who helped set up the monumental match and who are also sponsoring it through their foundations.
The official website for the event states:
"For the first time in history, two teams are meeting: the best hockey players playing in Russia, and a team of our foreign players from overseas. Hockey superstars, the best players - everyone you dreamed of seeing on the ice - will play against each other."
And the Carolina Hurricanes will have quite a few representatives as Andrei Svechnikov, Dmitry Orlov and Alexander Nikishin are all slated to participate.
The game will take place on July 20 at the CSKA Arena in Moscow, Russia and tickets for the event can be purchased from the official website.
In addition, the majority of proceeds from the event will go to charities organized by the players.
The website also states that the event will be more than just the game:
"Fans of the star match who gathered at the CSKA Arena will be treated to a big show program, a colorful opening ceremony, a variety of activities for the whole family, autograph sessions with popular players and coaches, as well as many, many surprises. This will be a real hockey festival in the middle of summer!"
Here's the current list of everyone who will be taking part in the game:

The team will also be coached by some Russian legends in Igor Larionov, Sergei Zubov and Alexei Zhamnov
Team KHL
