With the veteran winger sidelined by an upper-body injury, Rod Brind’Amour turns to youth prospects to fill the void as the Hurricanes face mounting injuries.

Carolina Hurricanes forward Taylor Hall will miss an extended period of time due to an upper-body injury.

Hall, who left Tuesday's game early, was absent from the team's practice on Friday morning and Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour stated that he'd be out for a couple of weeks at least.

"We've got kind of week-to-week situation happening with him," Brind'Amour said. "So ask me again in a week."

Hall, 34, had three goals and five points in eight games this season.

In Hall's place, and with both Seth Jarvis and Jordan Staal sidelined with injuries we well, the Hurricanes recalled both Bradly Nadeau and Felix Unger Sorum, who seem like they'll be slotting in for Saturday's game in Winnipeg.

"It sucks to see injuries, no matter who it is but you kind of have to have that next-man-up mentality a little bit," said Jackson Blake. "[Jordan Staal and Taylor Hall] are two key players for our team, but we can't use it as an excuse or anything. We’ve got to go out there and still compete and try to win."
