The third time was the charm as Evgeny Kuznetsov finally scored on his signature 'Kuzy Crawl' shootout move in the first period of Game 5 in the Carolina Hurricanes' first round series against the New York Islanders.
On an awarded penalty shot due to Islanders defenseman covering the puck with his glove in the New York crease, Kuznetsov got the call and made his way down the ice with his slow and methodical stick handling.
Over 10 seconds later, New York netminder Semyon Varlamov bit and attempted a poke check and that was all she wrote as Kuznetsov quickly put it past his fellow countryman to give the Canes a 3-1 lead after one.
It was the third time Kuznetsov has attempted the move as a Carolina Hurricane, but only the first time he's been able to convert.
He was stopped in the regular season by both Ilya Samsonov and Charlie Lindgren, both former teammates, but he would not be denied a third time.
Kuznetsov also becomes the second Carolina Hurricane to score on a postseason penalty shot after Jordan Martinook scored one in Game 3 against the New Jersey Devils last season.
While he didn't break out his other signature move, his bird celebration, teammate Seth Jarvis did it for him.
Carolina currently leads the first round series 3-1 and lead 3-1 after the first period as they look to close out the series at home.
