Andrei Svechnikov to Miss Time Following MRI

Carolina Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov will be out for "a while" according to head coach Rod Brind'Amour.

Svechnikov had an MRI done in Ottawa on Monday and Brind'Amour confirmed today that it wasn't good news.

"He's going to be out," Brind'Amour said. "Probably for at least a while. Nothing immediate that's for sure."

Svechnikov had missed the last two games with an upper-body injury, and so it can be assumed that his absence is related to that.

It's been a tough year for Svechnikov, who had scored one goal and registered 11 points in 16 games this year. Already he missed the first eight games of the season in addition to all of last year's postseason as he recovered from a torn ACL.

Svechnikov is one of Carolina's best players who not only has great on-puck talent, but can also create space and change the dynamic of games with his unique combination of size and skill.

Losing him will be a definite blow to a team that is already found itself struggling.
