This will be the first regular season meeting between the two teams since they met in the Eastern Conference Final of last year's playoff. The Panthers defeated the Hurricanes in four games before losing in five to the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Final.

The Hurricanes may see the return of Brett Pesce who's missed the last eight games due to a lower-body injury. If he's back in, expect Tony DeAngelo to be scratched and Dmitry Orlov to take over as PP1 quarterback.
