The winger's early departure against Washington further thins a shorthanded Hurricanes roster. Hall briefly returned for a power play before retreating to the locker room favoring his midsection.
The Carolina Hurricanes were already a bit shorthanded at the top of their roster with both Seth Jarvis and Jordan Staal injured, but the blows kept coming as forward Taylor Hall was ruled out in the second period of Tuesday's game against the Washington Capitals due to an upper-body injury.
Hall did not initially come out of the locker room to start the second period, but did however take the ice about five minutes into it to take a spin on the power play.
However, he immediately went back to the room after the faceoff, seeming to grab at his midsection.
The 34-year-old winger did take a solid hit from Capitals center Justin Sourdif with 5:43 remaining in the first period, although it initially looked like Sourdif got the worst of it.
We'll have to wait and see if there's any update on Hall's status until after the game.
UPDATE: Carolina coach Rod Brind'Amour did not have an update on Hall.
"Don't have [an update] yet, but that doesn't look good either," Brind'Amour said. "This is what happens in this league. You have to deal with it. That's the only thing you can do. Everyone goes through it, it's just tough when it kind of piles on."
