As everybody well knows by now, the Chicago Blackhawks drafted a player, Mason West, who is going to finish his senior year of football before focusing completely on hockey for good.
For obvious reasons, this kid is drawing a lot of attention. His story of playing both football and hockey has made headlines around the sports world. West has convinced the Blackhawks that there is no worry about him recommitting from hockey to pursue life in the NFL.
After his football season at Edina High School is over, West plans to play for the Fargo Force of the USHL before attending Michigan State University for hockey. Although with NIL money, West will get some Division I football offers once his season is complete.
Being a high-end high school quarterback won’t go without the pressure to change his mind. It’s on him to stick to his conviction if he wants to ultimately be an NHL player.
As a lot of high school and college quarterbacks have before him, Mason West had a conversation with former NFL head coach and current Barstool Sports show host, Jon Gruden.
