The Chicago Blackhawks were victorious on Monday night at the United Center. Frank Nazar’s power play goal in overtime secured a 3-3 victory for Chicago. With Nazar, Connor Bedard, Drew Commesso, and Sam Rinzel, amongst others, leading the charge, it is clear that this team now belongs to the kids.
The Blackhawks were without one of their top young players in this game as Oliver Moore is dealing with an injury. He was hurt while setting up a goal in the first period of Sunday night’s road match against the Dallas Stars.
After the win over Utah, Jeff Blashill was asked for an update on Moore, and his answer was negative. He admitted that Moore will miss some time.
He also said that they will know more “in a few weeks”, which isn’t the most encouraging update. There isn’t that much time left in the regular season, so the window for him to return is small.
A young player like that will rush to get back if he can, even if it means playing the final week of the season. Moore is a high-motor player who brings a lot of energy to the group both on and off the ice.
So far this season, Moore has 5 goals and 14 assists for 19 points in 51 games played. He isn’t a game-breaking offensive player at this point, but his speed and depth production will be missed while he is out.
