Blackhawks Prospect Sacha Boisvert Had Another Big Weekend

The Chicago Blackhawks may have something special in Sacha Boisvert who had another big weekend.

The Chicago Blackhawks are considered to have one of the best farm systems in the NHL right now. Recent drafts filled with high-selection opportunities have a lot to do with that. There have been numerous picks within the top 60 made over the last three years. 

One of their selections, Sacha Boisvert is coming off a big weekend at the University of North Dakota. In a big two-game NCHC set with Arizona State at Mullett Arena, they split the series. 

Arizona State won the first game on Friday night and North Dakota took the Saturday night game in overtime. This turned into quite the weekend series in a packed building. 

Boisvert was the goal-scorer for North Dakota in overtime. He made a great individual effort on a power move to score the game-winning goal for his team right in front of the net. It is those heavy high-danger scoring area plays that the NHL version of the Blackhawks is missing right now. Boisvert may be a driver of those for them one day soon. 

North Dakota was losing by one until they tied it up with under 31 seconds remaining in regulation. Boisvert's OTGWG helped make the comeback worthwhile. 

With this goal, Boisvert has 9 goals and 9 assists for 18 points in 21 games played. That leads all skaters on North Dakota's team. For being a freshman in college, that's incredibly impressive. 

Next weekend, Boisvert and North Dakota will be back at home to take on Western Michigan. If he keeps putting up big points while staying consistent with his defensive play, he'll be considered one of the top NCAA freshmen by the end of the year if he isn't already. The Blackhawks have a good one.
