The Chicago Blackhawks need to get Connor Bedard some help. Chris Kreider would be perfect for him.

There is a new report out in the NHL world that has everybody talking. Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, one of the top NHL insiders in the world, put out a report that the New York Rangers are looking to shake up their roster following a 6-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

He name-dropped Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba as options to be moved. Those are two of their highest-paid and longest-tenured veterans so it is coming in as a shocking report.

Connor McDavid had a big night for the Oilers in that loss for the Rangers but he does that to a lot of teams. It's a bit strange that they are making this public despite being 12-6-1 and legit contenders for the Metropolitan Division.

If these rumors are true, the Chicago Blackhawks should be one of the teams that takes advantage. They don't need Jacob Trouba but Chris Kreider would do wonders for them in more ways than one.

For one, Kreider is an incredible top-six power forward. So far this season, he doesn't have an assist but he has nine goals in 19 games played. You'd like to see him add a few helpers but he is scoring goals at a high rate.

Kreider has aged like fine wine in the NHL. He somehow got better after turning 30 which is usually the opposite for players in this league.

In the last four seasons (including this year) since turning 30, Kreider has 136 goals and 79 assists for 215 points in 261 games played. Those goal totals are off the charts.

55 of those goals have been on the power play. He is a legendary "tipper" and one of the best net-mouth goal scorers in the game to this day.

On top of all these on-ice skills, Kreider is a 13-year NHL veteran who has seen it all. The leadership he'd bring to his next team would be as good as any coach can offer.

All of these traits would make him the perfect winger for Connor Bedard in the Chicago Blackhawks top-six. With Bedard struggling to regain his confidence, a guy like Kreider would be great.

Kreider would be a great linemate for Bedard to help set up at even strength and with the man advantage. He would also open up more ice for Bedard to use his lethal shot as well. It's something to consider if you're Kyle Davidson and Chicago's front office.

Kreider's 15-team no-move clause may make a move like this difficult but the Hawks have a solid pitch for a veteran looking to help a team grow. If he wants to compete for the Stanley Cup instead and that's it, the Hawks have no chance.

Chicago isn't trying to win the Cup right now. They are trying to develop Bedard and the other young players in the organization so they can have sustained success in the future.

A guy like Kreider would be brought in to help with that process if it was something he was interested in. Not every trade is meant to help win. Some are made to help build and with two years left on his deal, Kreider would be perfect in Chicago.
