The Chicago Blackhawks have a marketable star in Connor Bedard. They do a great job of making sure he is at the center of everything when it comes to promoting the franchise. Despite having some ups and downs so far in his young career, he has a ton of people who want to see and hear from him.
On Tuesday night, Bedard visited Footprint Center to see the Phoenix Suns host the Memphis Grizzlies. Memphis, one of the best teams in the NBA, defeated a very mid Suns team 119-112.
It is interesting to see Bedard make his way to Phoenix during the break. He didn’t make it to the Four Nations Faceoff so this is how he’s spending his free time. It makes you wonder if he has affection for the state of Arizona or just enjoys watching pro sports like the rest of us.
Bedard played in one NHL campaign that featured the Arizona Coyotes but they became the Utah Hockey Club in his sophomore season. We’ll have to wait and see if hockey will ever return to Arizona for Bedard to visit again.
Some NBA history was made during this game as well and Bedard was there to witness it. Suns superstar and future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant became the 8th player in league history to reach 30,000 career points.
Basketball is an entirely different sport than hockey but Bedard was able to see first-hand what greatness looks like right in front of his eyes. Durant is one of the greatest of all time and Bedard would like to be the equivalent in his sport.
Most of the NHL is not playing in the Four Nations Faceoff so it's fun to see how the players are spending their time away from the game. For Bedard (so far), it's watching hoops in a warm-weather state.
