The Chicago Blackhawks fired Luke Richardson halfway through the 2024-25 season. He was replaced by Anders Sorensen, who took over on an interim basis.

They are going to pick a new head coach, despite Sorensen staying in the organization. A search is underway.

Rumor had it that they had Denver head coach David Carle at the top of their list for coaching candidates. He is a multiple-time national champion with Denver. He has also led Team USA to multiple Gold Medals at the World Junior Championships.

On Saturday, however, Elliotte Friedman put out a report that Carle has backed out of the sweepstakes to be Chicago's next head coach.

He also confirmed that the Hawks made an aggressive pursuit for Carle. Now, they will have to look elsewhere to complete their search.

There are going to be plenty of options for them to consider, but losing their top choice is not ideal. Only time will tell where they go from here.
