The Chicago Blackhawks had seven players reach the NCAA tournament. One of them, Taige Harding of Providence College, has signed his entry-level deal with the organization following Providence’s elimination. Harding was a third-round pick, 91st overall, in the 2021 NHL Draft.
Harding, born in Great Britain, played at Providence for four years. He is a defenseman with offensive upside that the Blackhawks will look to develop further.
In 37 games played with Providence this season, Harding had 2 goals and 12 assists for 14 points. He was one of their offensive leaders on the blue line. Being 6'6" will help him make that transition to the pro game in all three zones.
Harding's contract is a two-year entry-level deal that kicks in during the 2025-26 season. He signed an ATO to play for the Rockford IceHogs the rest of this season. It's a great opportunity for him to develop his game as he moves on from college.
Harding joins Oliver Moore and Sam Rinzel as college players who signed with the Blackhawks following the end of their run in the NCAA tournament. The organization is getting younger and younger with every passing day.
