By next Monday (May 11th), all 2025-26 NHL Award finalists will be named and the Colorado Avalanche have already had some players named as a finalist but some of the most important ones are coming up.
With the regular season over, we await the nominations for General Manager of the year, which with how well this roster has performed and the additions made by the NHL Trade Deadline, Chris MacFarland should absolutely be named a finalist.
On Thursday, May 7, the finalists for the James Norris Memorial Trophy will be announced, and Cale Makar could win his third Norris Trophy and be a top-three finalist for the sixth time in his career.
On Friday, May 8th we will see the finalists for the Hart Memorial Trophy, the MVP of the regular season award. We could see Nathan MacKinnon look for his second Hart Trophy and his fifth finalist nomination.
While individual awards are great and it shows the success of the regular season performance, I think we all know that while it would be great to see these guys take home some awards, we and them all know that winning the Stanley Cup is much more important to them then individual awards.
