The results for the 2026 Frank J. Selke Trophy have been revealed.
The winner of the 2025-26 Frank J. Selke Trophy has been revealed along with the runners-up. The annual award is voted on by the Professional Hockey Writers Association (PWHA). It is handed out to "to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game." This year's winner is forward Nick Suzuki from the Montreal Canadiens.
The three Avalanche players who received votes for the award were Brock Nelson, Nathan MacKinnon, and Valeri Nichushkin. Nelson finished third in voting and was previously announced as a finalist for the award. Both MacKinnon and Nichushkin finished with double-digit points. The points are distributed on a 10-7-5-3-1 system, with 10 points being awarded for a first-place vote.
Here is how the voting went for each Avalanche player:
- Brock Nelson: 4-28-22-16-12
- Nathan MacKinnon: 0-3-1-2-0
- Valeri Nichushkin: 0-0-2-2-0
The last time an Avalanche player was a finalist for the Selke Trophy was Joe Sakic in the 2000-01 season, when he finished second to John Madden of the New Jersey Devils.
