The Avalanche are keeping one of their depth forwards around.
The Colorado Avalanche have signed forward Chris Wagner to a one-year contract extension for the 2024-25 season.
Wagner, 32, signed a one-year deal with the Avalanche this offseason after a five-year stint with the Boston Bruins organization. Since then, Wagner has been a solid depth forward for the team, splitting time between the NHL and AHL.

Wagner has appeared in 10 games this season with the Avalanche, where he has one goal, one assist, 25 hits, and a plus-3 rating. He notably scored his lone NHL goal of the season on April 1 in the Avalanche's last matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Down in the AHL with the Colorado Eagles, Wagner has been a good veteran presence for the organization's younger players. In 17 games with the AHL squad, he has four goals and eight points.
Ultimately, keeping Wagner around is a no-risk move for the Avalanche. He will continue to be a serviceable depth forward for the Avalanche who brings experience and plenty of grit. Let's see how the Massachusetts native performs for the club from here.
