The Colorado Avalanche's first 2026 free agency signing is forward Jaden Schwartz
The Colorado Avalanche have signed forward Jaden Schwartz to a three-year, $9.75 million contract with a $3.25 million cap hit.
Last season with the Seattle Kraken, he finished with 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points, though he was sidelined after sustaining an upper-body injury when he was hit in the face by Nick Cousins.
The season prior, 2025-25 he played 81 games and finished with 26 assists and 23 assists for 49 points, something the Avalanche hope to see Schwartz replicate with him fully healthy and slotted into what might seem a middle-six position for him.
In 861 career NHL games, Schwartz has 233 goals, 320 assists, and 553 points. He has played on the penalty kill and power play. Listed at 5-foot-10, 190 pounds, Schwartz won the Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2019. He had 20 points in 26 games during that run, which included 12 goals and two game-winners.
