Nathan MacKinnon is continuing to build on his resume with the Avalanche.

Nathan MacKinnon is continuing to build on his resume with the Avalanche.

The Colorado Avalanche picked up a massive 6-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets. With this win, they now have a 2-1 series lead over the Jets and a grand chance to build on it at home for Game 4.

Nathan MacKinnon played a notable role in the Avalanche's win. The Avalanche superstar forward scored a power-play goal early in the third that tied the game up. From there, he also assisted Valeri Nichushkin's eventual game-winning goal.

MacKinnon's power-play goal put him in elite company. It was his 14th career playoff power-play goal, tying him with Michel Goulet and Milan Hejduk for third place on the Avalanche/Quebec Nordiques all-time list.

Seeing MacKinnon tie two big figures in Goulet and Hejduk is quite impressive. This is especially so when noting that MacKinnon is still just 28 years old and has a plethora of time left to score more power-play goals.

MacKinnon needs only one more playoff power-play goal to tie Hall of Famer Peter Forsberg for second on the Avs/Nordiques all-time list. Legend Joe Sakic is at the top of the list with 27 power-play goals.
