Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon had some words to say about Bob Cole.

Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon had some words to say about Bob Cole.

Tragedy rocked the hockey world on Thursday, as Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Cole passed away at the age of 90.

Cole is one of the most prominent figures the NHL has ever had. He was the face of Hockey Night In Canada, calling those big-time games for five decades. Because of this, both players and fans of the sport have been impacted by him. Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon is among them.

MacKinnon talked about Cole's passing and his impact on him while speaking to reporters. Here's what No. 29 said about the great announcer:

"Really sad. I mean, he's such a legend, such a great man. I met him a few times over the years at charity golf tournaments in Halifax. He'd come and support Atlantic Canadians. Amazing person. Super funny. Just a great guy. And obviously, some of the best calls of all time, so super sad to hear that.

MacKinnon also discussed some of his moments from Cole.

"Just growing up, I mean, every playoffs was unreal. I was a big Penguins fan, and any time Hockey Night in Canada came on, I loved watching them... He's a legend for sure."

Clearly, MacKinnon was a fan of not only Cole's broadcasting but also him a person.
