The Colorado Avalanche have recalled one of their defensemen from the AHL.
The Colorado Avalanche have made a roster move before their game against the Boston Bruins tonight (Jan. 8), calling up defenseman Sam Malinski to their NHL roster.
The Avalanche have now recalled Malinski four times this season after this latest transaction. When given the opportunity to play in the NHL, he has done well, posting one goal, five points, and a plus-1 rating in 14 games.
This roster move opens the door to the Avalanche potentially running with seven defensemen tonight. Miles Wood is questionable due to an illness, while fellow winger Ben Meyers was sent down to the American Hockey League (AHL) over the weekend. However, if Wood is good to go, Malinski's call-up will simply provide the Avs with more defensive depth.

Malinski, 25, has spent most of this season down in the AHL with the Colorado Eagles. He has three goals and nine points in 20 games with the AHL squad. Overall, he is having a solid first full professional season, which is why he keeps getting chances at the NHL level.
We will need to wait and see how much of an impact Malinski makes while with the Avalanche during this latest recall from here.
