Adam Fantilli To Miss Eight Weeks After Being Cut By A Skate Blade

Columbus has announced that Rookie forward Adam Fantilli will miss 8 weeks due to a calf laceration he suffered against the Seattle Kraken.

The young forward has scored 12 goals and has 27 points on the season and was expected to push for the CBJ rookie points record of 48 set by Pierre-Luc Dubois in the 2017-18 season.

Looking at the schedule, eight weeks leaves him with around three weeks to play in the season when he comes back. This is a major blow to the Jackets and Fantilli's Calder Trophy chase. This also leaves two of the top three picks in the 2023 NHL draft out long-term with injuries, as Connor Bedard went down with a broken jaw as well. Leo Carlsson also suffered an injury early in the season that saw him miss several weeks. Calder curse?

That leaves Dmitri Voronkov as the Jackets hope for a Calder Trophy. Voronkov has 12 goals and 25 points so far this season, and with Fantilli going down, one could see Voronkov's minutes going up, hopefully.

This also allows other players to step up and prove themselves, if the coaching staff and front office will allow such a thing.
