Today, we talk about 13-year vet Mikael Granlund. Ironically enough, Granlund had a hat trick in last night's playoff game against the Winnipeg Jets to help them to a 3-1 series lead.

Granlund has bounced around the last few years, but played the first seven years of his career with the Minnesota Wild. He was traded from the San Jose Sharks to the Dallas Stars this past trade deadline in hopes he could help Dallas make a serious run through the playoffs.
Stats
In a weird twist, Granlund actually played in 83 games this past season. After playing the first 52 for the Sharks, he finished the season with the Stars. He would go on to score 22 goals and total 66 points in those 83 games. He scored 5 power-play goals and had 19 power-play points on the season, mostly for the Sharks. For his career, he has a 55-point average over 82 games.
He's played in 70 playoff games and has 39 points.
Previous Salary
Granlund signed a 4-year, $20,000,000 contract with a cap hit of $5,000,000 per season in 2021. Contract experts put his next deal at two years, with a cap hit of $5 million per season.
Realistic Chances Of A Signing: Cold
Granlund would be a great veteran to add to a young locker room, but at this time, it's just not a fit. The Jackets have some good young centers, and while having a vet like him playing down in the lineup would be great, he's still a player who can put up some points and wouldn't want to be relegated to a 4th line role.
Granlund is probably trying to chase a cup at this point in his career as well, so at this time, the Jackets would pass on Granlund.
